Le week-end dernier, j’ai eu le plaisir de retrouver l’effervescence du college football en me rendant au Husky Stadium, véritable joyau du football universitaire. Niché à seulement 10 minutes du centre de Seattle, ce stade unique offre un accès à l’eau, permettant aux fans de profiter du fameux « sailgate » avant-match dans un cadre naturel exceptionnel.
Pour cette deuxième journée de la saison, l’ambiance était encore plus spéciale avec la participation de 2 200 jeunes musiciens de la région lors de la mi-temps, accompagnant le célèbre marching band des Huskies, un moment magique pour les 64 222 spectateurs.
Opposés à Eastern Michigan ce samedi, les Huskies avaient l’intention de poursuivre sur leur lancée après une victoire éclatante 35-3 face à Weber State. Malgré un début de match hésitant, marqué par quelques erreurs d'exécution et un punt bloqué, les Huskies ont ensuite trouvé leur rythme. Menés 3-0 après le premier quart, Will Rogers a orchestré une belle remontée avec une passe décisive de 41 yards à Decker DeGraaf. Peu après, Jonah Coleman a enfoncé le clou avec une course spectaculaire de 64 yards, portant le score à leur avantage. Le running back des Huskies a dépassé les 100 yards sur la rencontre (104) en 11 portées.
Malgré des pénalités coûteuses, la défense, menée par Zach Durfee et ses 2,5 sacks, ainsi que Carson Bruener, Alphonzo Tupuola et Cameron Broussard (6 plaqués chacun), a tenu bon, empêchant Eastern Michigan de marquer le moindre touchdown.
Du côté de l'attaque, Will Rogers a conclu la rencontre avec 21 passes complétées sur 26 tentatives, 261 yards à la passe et 4 touchdowns en direction de Jeremiah Hunter (1), Decker DeGraaf (1) et Denzel Boston (2).
Ce match s'est terminé sur une victoire 30-9 pour les Huskies, qui continuent à montrer leur potentiel cette saison sous la nouvelle direction de Jedd Fisch et Brennan Carroll.
Les Huskies affronteront leur rival hors conférence la semaine prochaine, les Washington State Cougars, au Lumen Field pour la 116e édition de l'Apple Cup.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of experiencing the excitement of college football once again as I visited Husky Stadium, a true gem of university football. Located just 10 minutes from downtown Seattle, this unique stadium offers water access, allowing fans to enjoy the famous pre-game "sailgate" in a stunning natural setting.
For this second game of the season, the atmosphere was even more special with the participation of 2,200 local young musicians at halftime, accompanying the renowned Huskies marching band, creating a magical moment for the 64 222 spectators.
Facing Eastern Michigan on Saturday, the Huskies were determined to continue their momentum after a commanding 35-3 victory over Weber State. Despite a slow start marked by execution errors and a blocked punt, the Huskies eventually found their rhythm. Trailing 3-0 after the first quarter, Will Rogers led a brilliant comeback with a 41-yard touchdown pass to Decker DeGraaf. Shortly after, Jonah Coleman sealed the deal with a spectacular 64-yard run, giving the Huskies the lead. The running back finished the game with over 100 yards (104) on 11 carries.
