Ce vendredi soir, à l'occasion de leur premier match de conférence Big Ten à domicile, les Ducks ont arboré un équipement spécial "Stomp Out Cancer". Ce maillot unique, conçu par Nike avec l'aide précieuse de Sauphia Lanning, l'épouse du head coach Dan Lanning, et de leurs trois enfants, rend hommage aux personnes qui ont vaincu le cancer ou qui luttent encore contre la maladie, ainsi qu'aux médecins et infirmières engagés dans cette bataille. Il raconte les histoires personnelles de la famille Lanning avec le cancer, apportant une dimension émotionnelle forte à cette rencontre.
« Je mentirais si je disais que je n'y ai pas pensé », a avoué Dan Lanning après le match. « Ce match était définitivement spécial pour beaucoup de personnes. Je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher de remarquer les personnes qui sonnaient la cloche sur le terrain, et je me souviens de ce moment, de ce que cela fait. C'était certainement spécial pour notre famille, et pour beaucoup de gens ce soir. »
Devant 59 802 fans enflammés au Autzen Stadium, les Ducks de l'Oregon (5-0), actuellement classés numéro 6, accueillaient les Spartans de Michigan State (3-3). This Friday night, for their first home Big Ten conference game, the Ducks donned a special "Stomp Out Cancer" uniform. This unique jersey, designed by Nike with the valuable help of Sauphia Lanning, the wife of head coach Dan Lanning, and their three children, pays tribute to those who have defeated cancer or are still battling the disease, as well as the doctors and nurses involved in this fight. It also tells the personal cancer-related stories of the Lanning family, adding an emotional dimension to this matchup.
"I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about it," admitted Dan Lanning after the game. "This game was definitely special for a lot of people. Anyone who has been affected by cancer, I couldn’t help but notice the people ringing the bell on the field, and I remember that moment, what it feels like. It was certainly special for our family and for a lot of people tonight."
In front of 59,802 enthusiastic fans at Autzen Stadium, the Oregon Ducks (5-0), currently ranked No. 6, hosted the Michigan State Spartans (3-3).
